Environmental Community Letter Opposing Repeal of Section 526 of the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007

27 U.S. and Canadian environmental organizations asked the Senate to oppose amendments to the 2008 National Defense Authorization Bill that would repeal section 526 of the Energy Security and Indpendence Act of 2007. Section 526 bars federal agencies from entering into contracts to procure alternative (unconventional and synthetic) transportation fuels with greater lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions than conventional fuel.
